Sump Pump Installation & Repair in Greensboro & Summerfield, NC

A sump pump is the last line of defense between a heavy rain and a wet crawl space or basement. Custom Electric and Plumbing installs new sump pumps, repairs or replaces pumps that have quit, adds battery backup pumps, and installs crawl space drainage and French drains to keep your home dry, even when the power goes out.

Signs Your Sump Pump Needs Attention

  • It hums but doesn’t move any water
  • It runs constantly, even in dry weather
  • It turns on and off rapidly
  • You hear grinding or rattling
  • Water is sitting in the pit or on the floor after rain
  • The pump is more than 7 to 10 years old
  • You’ve never tested it, or the power went out during the last big storm

What We Do

  • New sump pump installation: pump, basin, check valve and a discharge line that carries water away from your foundation. In a basement with no pit, we can cut the concrete floor and set a new basin.
  • Sump pump repair and replacement: stuck float switches, clogged intakes, failed check valves and worn-out pumps
  • Battery backup pumps: added to new or existing pumps
  • Crawl space drainage and French drains: to collect groundwater and send it to the pump or away from the house
  • Electrical too: we’re licensed electricians as well (NC Electrical License #29163), so we can run a new circuit for the pump. No second contractor needed.

Brands we install: Zoeller, Liberty, Basement Watchdog, Superior Pump, Barracuda and Wayne.

Battery Backup Sump Pumps

Storms knock out power right when your sump pump is needed most. A battery backup pump takes over automatically when the power goes out or the main pump fails. How long it runs depends on the battery and how much water is coming in. We can add a backup to most existing setups after a quick look at your pit.

How It Works

  1. Send us the form (or call). Tell us what your pump is doing or where water is getting in.
  2. We take a look. A licensed plumber checks the pump, pit, float, check valve and discharge line.
  3. You get a clear estimate for repair, replacement, a battery backup or drainage, before any work starts. Estimates are subject to on-site inspection.
  4. We do the work and test it, filling the pit to make sure the pump cycles and the water drains away, then we clean up.

Crawl Space Drainage & French Drains

If water keeps finding its way into your crawl space or basement, a pump alone may not solve it. We install crawl space drainage and French drains that collect groundwater and carry it to your sump pump or away from your foundation. Seeing damp spots inside the walls instead?
