Signs You Need Drain Cleaning

  • Water draining slowly from a sink, tub or shower
  • Gurgling sounds from drains or toilets
  • A toilet that clogs often or won’t flush strongly
  • Bad smells coming up from a drain
  • Water backing up into a tub or floor drain when another fixture runs
  • Clogs that come back a few weeks after you clear them yourself

What We Clear

  • Kitchen sinks: grease, food scraps and garbage disposal buildup
  • Bathroom sinks, tubs and showers: hair, soap scum and buildup
  • Toilets: stubborn clogs a plunger won’t move
  • Laundry drains: lint and detergent buildup
  • Main sewer line: roots, buildup or damage between the house and the street or septic tank

One Slow Drain or the Main Line?

A clog in one fixture usually stays in that fixture’s drain line. When several drains are slow at once, or a backup shows up in the lowest drain in the house, the problem is often farther down in the main line. In that case we can run a camera through the line to see what’s going on before recommending anything. If the camera shows a cracked, sagging or root-filled pipe, see our Sewer Line Replacement page or read Signs You Need a Sewer Line Replacement.

How It Works

  1. Send us the form (or call). Tell us which drains are acting up and for how long.
  2. We find the clog. We check the affected drains and, when the main line is suspected, can run a camera to see it.
  3. We clear it with a drain snake and explain what we found, so you know whether it was a one-time clog or a sign of something bigger.
  4. We test the drains before we leave to make sure everything runs freely.

Why Skip the Chemical Drain Cleaner

Store-bought drain chemicals can eat away at older pipes, including the cast iron and galvanized pipe common in older Greensboro-area homes, and they rarely clear a clog that’s deep in the line. If a plunger doesn’t do it, a professional cleaning is usually the safer and faster fix.

Frequently Asked Questions

If one fixture is slow, it’s most likely a local clog. If several drains are slow at once, or sewage backs up into a tub or floor drain, the main line is the more likely suspect.

Keep grease out of the kitchen sink, use drain screens in showers and tubs, and only flush toilet paper. If the same drain keeps clogging, it’s worth having it looked at before it turns into a backup.

Yes. Many homes in Summerfield, Oak Ridge and Stokesdale are on septic, and we clear their drains and main lines too. If the backup turns out to be a full septic tank rather than a clog, we’ll tell you so you can call your septic service.

It depends on which drain, how far down the clog is and how easy the line is to reach. We’ll give you an estimate before any work starts. Estimates are subject to on-site inspection.
